What makes asbestos awareness training so crucial?

Asbestos Awareness Training Session image

The considerable harm that the once widely used construction and insulation material known as asbestos can cause is thankfully now widely known. So with that in mind, what role does asbestos awareness training play, who could benefit from it, and how could they benefit from it?

Asbestos awareness training is relevant and useful to a wide range of workers who could be at risk of exposure to asbestos as part of their day-to-day duties.

These include – but are not limited to – the likes of general maintenance staff, electricians, plumbers, roofing contractors, heating engineers, fire and burglar alarm installers and shopfitters.

Is this form of training relevant to your needs?

Before requesting asbestos awareness training, it is important to be knowledgeable about what this type of training is for, and what it isn’t for.

The emphasis of asbestos awareness training is on equipping workers and supervisors with the information that they require to avoid work that could result in the disturbance of asbestos. It does not prepare workers or self-employed contractors to actually carry out work with asbestos-containing materials (ACMs).

If, then, a worker plans to undertake work that it is known will cause disturbance to ACMs, further information, instruction and training will be required.

Ensure your employees are prepared and well-informed

Candidates who enrol in our own comprehensive half-day asbestos awareness training course here at Acorn Analytical Services will learn about a wide range of aspects of asbestos, including what this substance is, where it was used, what products can contain it, why it is hazardous and who is at risk of asbestos exposure.
