CLIENT PROFILE

Who are the University of Leeds?

The University of Leeds is part of the Russell Group of leading UK universities. Established in 1904, the University of Leeds is one of the largest higher education institutions in the UK.

Renowned globally for the quality of its teaching and research, the University is ranked in the top 10 universities in the UK in the Guardian University Guide 2019, and among the top 100 in the QS World University Rankings 2019.

BUSINESS NEED

What did they need?

The University of Leeds began to identify issues with their existing asbestos information. This resulted in uncertainty throughout the Estates department and subsequent delays with planning refurbishment programme as well as day to day management of asbestos on site.

SOLUTION

How did we help?

Following an initial period where Acorn Analytical Services were appointed on an ad-hoc basis to assist with specific projects, we entered into a framework agreement for asbestos consultancy services to ensure that asbestos containing materials (ACM’s) were correctly identified and managed as required.

Acorn Analytical Services continue to assist the University with specific refurbishment surveys, the production of asbestos removal specifications and the project management during the ongoing system of asbestos removal works.

FEEDBACK

What they said about us?

Having previously been let down by a supplier, we initially engaged Acorn Analytical Services to come in and assist us in all aspects of asbestos consultancy works. We quickly found them to be professional in their approach to a very challenging industry, both in terms of client expectation and reactive engagement of staff resource. Their staff have a high level of competency and are very solution-focused, something that we value very highly as the majority of our site issues require this approach. We have recently extended their consultancy term due to the level of service we have received to date.

I have found Acorn Analytical Services to have a very pro-active and methodical approach to any problems that may arise on-site. I am kept up-to-date with any issues that may affect the delivery of the services that they provide and am given constant feedback and updates on such issues. I find them to be very approachable and appreciate their ‘hands-on’ approach to customer care; from instigating and attending regular site meetings, to provide monthly updates on the status of ongoing projects.
