Team talk: Meet Viviana one of the talented new recruits at Acorn Analytical Services

Viviana, one of the newest members of Acorn's team

WITH the UK in the grip of an asbestos epidemic, recruiting talented, experienced staff to join the award-winning team of experts at Acorn Analytical Services has never been more important.

Despite being banned in new buildings more than 20 years ago, asbestos remains a huge problem for many businesses and, as a result, demand for the services we offer has never been higher.

In the last six months, Acorn Analytical Services has taken on a significant number of new clients, and we have added to our team of analysts, surveyors, managers and trainees to ensure all our clients receive the help and support they need when they need it. We still have roles available so if you’re looking for your next challenge, we’d love it hear from you – you’ll find more information about how to get in touch at the bottom of the page

Among our newest recruits is Business Support Manager, Viviana, who joined the team in September. Here, she explains more about her role and why she loves being part of the Acorn Analytical Services family.

‘The chance to work for a business which is really growing’

“Since joining Acorn in September I’ve been made to feel really welcome – everybody is really nice and the team is brilliant,” Viviana explained.

“The business is growing all the time and I really enjoy the flexibility it offers. I also value the opportunity to make some decisions about my work on my own.

“On a day-to-day level, my role is really varied. I do a lot of HR, and I have been very busy recently with all the new people who have been joining the business. I do a lot of the admin tasks, such as arranging inductions, supporting with IT and helping to manage our fleet of vehicles.

“Every day is different at Acorn, and I really do enjoy that.”

Acorn Analytical Services: An employer which really cares

At Acorn, we are passionate about creating a workplace where everybody feels valued, and we provide plenty of opportunities to develop and grow.

In June, we were delighted to be named Employer of the Year at the Northamptonshire SME Awards in recognition of the work we are doing to develop our teams.

In November, our apprentice Jake Newell reached the finals of the Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards in recognition of his commitment to his role and the dedication he has shown to raising awareness of the dangers of asbestos.

More recently, we have been using social media to connect with workers affected by the collapse of a local asbestos and environmental health management company, supporting them as they look to rebuild their careers.

Director Paul Knights said: “We’ve seen a flurry of activity recently from people looking to secure their future in the industry and find work locally to support themselves and their families.

“The door is always open at Acorn. In the last ten years, members of staff have left but then returned, sometimes within a week, because Acorn is such a great place to work.

“We offer competitive packages for all our staff, the opportunity to progress and the chance to work for a company which will always value you and your contribution.

“It’s an exciting time for us. We’re growing, we have ambitious plans for the future, and we’d love to hear from anyone who is interesting in joining our team.”
