The Acorn Analytical Services team have put their heart and sole into raising money for Muscular Dystrophy UK over the last few weeks.
Throughout May, the team took part in a Mile a Day in May challenge, with each member walking or running a mile to raise money for the charity.
The team wanted to smash a target of raising £1,000 for the charity, but as May came to a close, the grand total was just shy of this at £860.
Not ones to be defeated or back away from a target, the team have decided to carry on walking a Mile a Day in June until they hit £1,000.
Why raise money for Muscular Dystrophy UK?
The charity is a cause close to the hearts of everyone at Acorn. Earlier this year, sales administrator, Sarah Seal learnt that both her sons, Harris and Lucas, had been diagnosed with Becker Muscular Dystrophy, a rare condition which only affects boys and men.
Inspired by her story, her colleagues at Acorn pledged to raise as much money as possible for the charity which offers support and information to those affected.
Sarah said: “We have to raise awareness and the team at Acorn has been absolutely amazing – I couldn’t be more grateful for everything they have done to support us.”
Managing director, Sam Savage said: “When the team at Acorn learned about Sarah’s story, we knew we had to something to help.
“Very quickly a team from Acorn was put together, each one pledging to run or walk a Mile a Day in May to help raise awareness and money for this vital charity.
“Throughout the month, the team has racked up the miles in any way possible, making the most of the recent spring sunshine to add to the final total. The hard work has even continued abroad with members of the team adding to their step count during holidays in Rome and Malta!
“It really has been a family affair, with everyone pulling together as one for support Sarah and to do everything we can to help raise awareness of this devastating condition.”
