Asbestos training has never been more critical for your workforce

Asbestos training tutor, Daniel Crask

DESPITE being banned from new buildings in 1999, asbestos is still all around us which is why Acorn Analytical Services takes its commitment to education and asbestos training so seriously.

By raising awareness of the potential dangers of asbestos through our UKATA-accredited asbestos awareness training courses, we aim to protect your workforce from the dangers of asbestos and give you the knowledge to handle any issues safely and with confidence.

Earlier this month we were delighted to learn that our Senior Asbestos Surveyor, Daniel Crask had successfully passed his UKATA Tutor Knowledge Test. He will now be supporting our clients through our programme of in-depth classroom-based training, delivered by real people with real knowledge.

Who needs asbestos training?

If you have members of staff whose work could put them into contact with asbestos, then asbestos awareness training really is vital.

Those particularly at risk could include:

  • Maintenance staff
  • Electricians, plumbers and gas fitters
  • Painters, decorators, joiners and plasterers
  • Demolition and construction workers
  • Roofing contractors
  • Heating, ventilation and telecommunication engineers
  • Fire and burglar alarm installers
  • Architects and building surveyors
  • Shopfitters

Our courses are carried out by experts with at least 10 years of experience in the asbestos industry and they are all UKATA-trained, just like Daniel.

The aim of our courses is simple – to provide information that is clear, concise and tailored to your individual set of circumstances, to raise awareness of the dangers of asbestos and avoid any accidental disturbances which could prove costly to both you and those around you.

Who are UKATA?

UKATA (United Kingdom Asbestos Training Association) is a not-for-profit authority specialising in asbestos training. Established in 2008, the organisation is now recognised across the industry as the most influential and well-known asbestos training association.

UKATA is renowned for the high standards upheld by its members in delivering useful and relevant asbestos training in line with all current Health and Safety Executive legislation.

Why is asbestos training so important?

In 2020, more than 2,500 people died from mesothelioma, the cancer caused by exposure to asbestos fibres.

While it doesn’t dominate the headlines as it once did, asbestos is still a major risk to health, particularly if you don’t know it’s there. The only way to know for sure is by carrying out a thorough asbestos survey on your premises and, if it is there, by ensuring it is managed correctly.

But in the war against asbestos, education is your best line of defence.

What else do I need to know?

We make sure all of our courses are held to face-to-face and led by our team of friendly experts, who between them of decades of experience in the sector.

The courses are informal and fully interactive, giving you plenty of opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

You’ll come away from our courses with all the information you need, as well as a fully-accredited training certificate which will be sent to you with 24 hours of completing your course.

Afterwards, our team of experts will be on hand to keep the conversation going, ensuring you have access to support and advice whenever you need it.

We also have a wealth of additional information and resources on our website including our book Asbestos: The Dark Arts or our podcast Asbestos: Knowledge Empire  – an audio guide for property managers which you can listen to on the go, hosted by our directors, Ian Stone and Neil Munro.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
