Let your career in the asbestos industry grow with Acorn

Let your career in the asbestos industry grow with Acorn

GIVING young people the opportunities they need to build successful careers in asbestos and health and safety is a big part of the work we do here at Acorn Analytical Services.

Having all started off as apprentices and learnt our trade over many years, we pride ourselves on providing the right environment where the next generation of new talent can grow and thrive.

This approach has helped Acorn grow into the company it is – innovative, forward-thinking and always ready to help our staff take the next steps in their careers.

Exam success for asbestos analyst Jake

Former apprentice Jake Newell successfully completed his P402 training last week which means he is now a qualified asbestos surveyor.

Jake joined Acorn Analytical Services as an apprentice in 2021 and since then he has completed his initial training, shown commitment and dedication to his role and been recognised for his efforts by winning – and being nominated for – a number of prestigious awards.

He continues to work hard and develop his role at Acorn.

He said: “Learning more about the industry has definitely changed the way I look at things. I was really surprised to learn how many different products contain asbestos.

“When I’m at home now or visiting my friends, I’m looking around for asbestos and pointing it out to them. When you learn about it you want to share that knowledge with others.”

Learning more about the asbestos industry

We were also delighted to welcome Olivia into our Moulton Park HQ recently where she took part in a week’s work experience.

During the week, Olivia took part in a wide range of activities from working alongside the sales team, helping to make appointments, working in operations and HR and in our state-of-the-art laboratory where she learnt more about the different types of asbestos and the work we do to keep people safe.

Olivia said: “I’ve really had a taste of everything this week but I particularly enjoyed working in the lab.

“It was really interesting to see the different types of asbestos which show different colours under the microscope.

“I’m not sure what I want to do yet when I leave school, but this is certainly something I will look at.”
