#ActNowOnAsbestos: How our FREE training sessions will help raise awareness

Acorn Analytical Services director Ian Stone has worked in the asbestos industry for 20 years.

ASBESTOS is firmly in the headlines once again and we’re delighted to see an open and very frank discussion finally taking place about the material itself, the risks around mesothelioma and the steps we should all be taking to protect ourselves.

At Acorn Analytical Services it’s something we’ve been talking about for years and as you may have already seen, we’ve wholeheartedly thrown our support by The Sunday Times campaign, #ActNowOnAsbestos which is calling on the Government to commit to a phased removal of asbestos over the next 40 years.

While the campaign continues to gather pace, for all of us on the front line it has never been important to raise awareness of the hidden dangers.

That’s why we’ve developed a series of FREE training sessions designed to support professionals whose role could put them at greater of risk of coming into contact with the material in the future.

Learn about asbestos from the experts

After 10 years as Northamptonshire’s leading independent consultancy, nobody knows more about asbestos and the problems it causes more than we do.

Every day, our consultants see the UK’s battle with asbestos up close, carrying out surveys and identifying problems which may have been hidden away from view for decades.

The problem is that very few people know its there, with the vast majority believing that it is very much a problem of the past.

And by the time they do realise it’s often too late.

Our free sessions will help to dispel the myths, empower you to tackle any problems you may have with confidence and ultimately, help you to save lives.

Our sessions will include:

  • Information about the various asbestos products
  • The types of surveys available
  • What a survey involves
  • Surveyor competence and what to look for
  • Contractor competence and what to look for
  • What to expect from a survey report
  • The main regulations
  • A Q&A session

Sessions can be held in person or online and give you the chance to learn from some of the best in the business.

Asbestos training for free? There must be a catch?

Not at all.

Offering these free asbestos awareness sessions is our way of engaging with other businesses across Northamptonshire and beyond to spread the word about asbestos and just how dangerous it can be.

With so much about it in the headlines at the moment, and its undisputed links with mesothelioma, a deadly cancer caused by exposure to asbestos fibres, we feel this is one way in which we can really add value – sharing our combined expertise to help raise awareness among those professionals who really need our support.

Looking ahead, we’re hoping to roll out our programmes to other professionals including estate agents and surveyors, who could come into contact with asbestos as part of their day-to-day work without even realising it.

If you feel your business would benefit from awareness training, we’d love to talk to you and discuss your requirements.
