Acorn Launch New Asbestos Testing Laboratory

How dangerous is asbestos?

We’re pleased to announce the launch of our new asbestos sample testing laboratory.

With an extension to scope on our UKAS accreditation we now have a fully operational asbestos laboratory in Northampton (See our location). The purpose fitted laboratory has two asbestos bulk analysis stations with room for two further stations in the future.

Our UKAS accreditation accredits us for the identification of the six regulated types of asbestos by Stereo Microscopy and Polarised Light Microscopy. This method is suitable for identifying all common asbestos-containing materials, and can distinguish between asbestos fibres and elongate mineral fragments or other materials in almost all situations. All identification methods are undertaken in line with HSG 248 Asbestos: The analysts’ guide for sampling, analysis and clearance procedures and out in house documented procedures.

The six types of asbestos fibre we can positively identify are:

  • Amosite (Brown)
  • Chrysotile (Blue)
  • Crocidolite (White)
  • Fibrous Actinolite
  • Fibrous Anthophyllite
  • Fibrous Tremolite

Our Northampton asbestos testing laboratory is based within our Northampton offices. This enables us to analyse samples rapidly in order to meet your requirements. Our standard services are:

  • Same Day
  • 24 Hour
  • 48 Hour
  • Five days

We aim to be flexible, so if you require an alternative solution, we will do everything we can to accommodate this. It is just one of the advantages of having our own asbestos testing laboratory.

In addition to our fast sample turnarounds, our asbestos testing services offer

  • Out of hours drop off service available
  • Instant certificate issuing system
  • Certificates issued at the point of analysis
  • Free asbestos consultation and advice

If you have a suspect material that you would like testing for asbestos, get in touch with our Northampton asbestos testing laboratory today. We’ll be more than happy to discuss your asbestos sample testing requirements.
