A new face has joined the team, and two familiar ones have just added a serious qualification to their names.
Welcoming Dave to the team
Dave has joined Acorn as our newest Asbestos Consultant, and we’re pleased to have him on board.
Bringing a new consultant in is never a small thing. The work we do for clients depends entirely on the people doing it, so every addition matters. Dave’s arrival reflects something we’ve always tried to stick to: invest in good people and give them the room to do the job properly.
He’s already getting stuck in, and the team have made him feel at home.

P402 success for Jathanael and Ian
The other half of the good news belongs to Jathanael and Ian, who have both just passed their P402.
For anyone outside the asbestos world, the P402 is the recognised qualification for asbestos surveying. It’s the certificate that says you can identify, sample and assess asbestos-containing materials in buildings to a professional standard, and it qualifies you to carry out surveys in your own right.
It’s not a qualification you stumble into. It takes proper study, practical knowledge, and a real grasp of how asbestos behaves in actual buildings. The exam is rigorous, and rightly so. Surveys feed straight into the safety decisions our clients make, so the bar needs to be high.
Both of them put the work in. Both have come out the other side as fully qualified Asbestos Surveyors.
No small achievement.
It’s one thing to talk about professional development in the abstract. It’s another to watch colleagues sit the exams, do the graft, and earn the credentials. Jathanael and Ian have done exactly that.
Congratulations to you both. Well earned.
Between Dave joining and the P402 results, the team is noticeably stronger than it was a few weeks ago. More hands, more qualifications, more capability when a project lands on the desk.
For clients, that’s straightforward. More qualified surveyors mean better availability, quicker turnarounds, and the confidence that whoever walks into your building knows what they’re doing. For property managers and dutyholders working to tight schedules, that’s the bit that counts.
It matters internally too. Growth like this keeps the work fresh, spreads the experience around, and builds the kind of depth that stops a consultancy from leaning too heavily on one or two people.
